Access and Location:
Within the building steps have been avoided to allow the free use of wheel chairs.
The surgery is situated in the centre of town, near the free public car park. Most of the area is on flat ground apart from the road to Maesteg Hospital, which is along a bus route. There is also a bus route to Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.
In the Interest of Hygiene:
Patients are respectfully requested not to consume food in the surgery. SMOKING IS STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED. Dogs are not allowed on the premises other than guide dogs.
New Patients
If you are a new patient wishing to join the practice you will be asked to complete a registration form if you do not have a medical card and also a questionnaire. This is helpful to your new doctor as it usually takes a few weeks for your notes to arrive.
Change Of Name / Address
Please inform the receptionist if you change your name or address so that your records can be amended. This can be done online.
Certificates
If you are off work for six days or less you do not need to see a doctor for a note for your employer. Employees fill in form SC2 and self employed and unemployed form SC1.We strongly discourage employers, schools or colleges asking for notes for short term illness --- they are not entitled to them as part of NHS regulations.
The Computer
Patients records held on computer as with our written records are confidential. The practice complies with the Data Protection Act. You are entitled to see your records from 1992, but there may be a charge.
Non-NHS Services
Some medicals are not covered by the NHS e.g., HGV Insurance and pre- employment medicals. We are pleased to provide these services but they incur a charge. The practice secretaries can provide details, or click here
Some Travel Advice is also not covered by NHS contributions.
Occupational Health services are not our responsibility and unfortunately we are not able to do these even privately.
Temporary Residents
The rules have changed on this recently, Everybody resident permanently in the UK is entitled to free NHS treatment at this practice if residing in the practice area. Anyone living abroad is now treated privately and can claim back on their insurance. This includes British nationals who are now living abroad permanently.
