If, when you ring to book an appointment for a specific doctor, you may be disappointed because of where the doctor you wish to see is in the rota of doctor's duties.
During a normal week, without one of the doctor's on leave, each doctor will work to following rota.
Four morning surgeries  (4 sessions)  Two afternoon surgeries  (2 sessions)
One day as duty doctor  (2 sessions)
One morning/afternoon in our branch surgery in Bryn.  (1 session)
This accounts for the nine sessions of the ten available for the week.

When a doctor is on leave, his/her duties are covered by a colleague, therefore one of his/her colleague's will change to the following rota.
Three morning surgeries  (3 sessions)  Two days as duty doctor
(4 sessions)
Two afternoons in Bryn  (2 sessions).

As there are five partners, the week is divided evenly with two doctors working morning and afternoon, one as duty doctor, one working the morning in Maesteg and the afternoon in Bryn and the fifth working the morning.
We are a training practice for new GP's and at certain times we have a doctor (a GPR) training to be a GP with us. That doctor is not included in the rota, but when not studying will see patients as part of their training. Also, a GP may be taken out of the rota for teaching sessions for the GPR.
