LLYNFI SURGERY recognises the huge service that carers provide in the community and wish to assist by providing information, which would be helpful to the many carers in the Maesteg and Bryn area.
If you are a carer, please let us know. There may be times when you are ill or not able to continue to care for your loved ones. We have links to other practices in the Maesteg area and can alert them when things are not going to plan because of illness of the carer.
We provide a Carer’s Information Notice Board in the entrance hall of the surgery, which may be helpful to you. Also the Bridgend Carer’s Centre is able to provide you with a wealth of information and support.
Do you know any Young Adult Carer’s who provide care for their families due to ill health? The Bridgend Carer’s Centre provides support and meetings for all groups.
Carers are the UK’s secret service: six million people provide unpaid care to someone they know. During Carers Week 2012, this hidden army will speak out.
The UK’s carers are quite literally, indispensable. By providing unpaid care for someone they know that are ill, frail or disabled, they save the economy an incredible £87 billion.

Carers’ unpaid contribution is £87 billion each year, yet the decision to care can mean a commitment to future poverty. Many give up an income, future employment prospects and pension rights to become a carer.
